What is Mind-Body Medicine?

The US National Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has defined Mind-Body Medicine in the following way:


“Mind-Body Medicine focuses on the interaction among the brain, mind, body and behaviour, and on powerful ways in which emotional, mental, social, spiritual and behavioural factors can directly effect health. It regards as fundamental as approach that respects and enhances each person’s capacity for self-knowledge and self-care, and it emphasizes techniques that are grounded in the approach.”
